Purple has quietly become the festive colour of the season. It feels royal like maroon, fresher than red, and it glows in diya light – which is exactly why we see it at every Diwali party from Jaipur to New Jersey. If you are planning your Diwali 2026 outfit (Diwali falls on 8 November), here is a simple guide to two purple suits from our Jaipur studio – and how to make either one look its best.
Why purple works so well for Diwali
- It flatters every skin tone. Deep plum warms up wheatish and dusky skin; brighter violet makes fair and olive skin glow.
- It photographs beautifully. Purple holds its colour in warm lamp light and in flash photos, without turning dull.
- It is festive without being bridal. You look dressed up, but you will not compete with the bride at a family function.
Plum: rich, calm and elegant
Our plum purple embroidered cotton suit is the classic choice. Large pink roses and sage-green leaves frame the neckline, tiny embroidered buttis are scattered over the body, and the pants have an embroidered floral hem. The soft cotton dupatta keeps the look graceful.
Wear it to: Lakshmi puja, Karva Chauth, family dinners, office Diwali celebrations.
Jewellery: oxidised silver jhumkas, a slim kada and a small potli bag.
Shoes: block heels or gold juttis.
Violet: flowy, fun and twirl-ready
Our violet Nyra cut sequin suit is made for movement. The Nyra cut – a fitted yoke gathered into an A-line flare – sways when you walk and twirls when you dance. The yoke is embroidered in tonal thread with tiny sequins, and bandhani-style print panels add a Rajasthani touch.
Wear it to: Diwali card parties, garba nights, mehendi, festive lunches.
Jewellery: long silver jhumkas or chandbalis; keep the neck bare.
Shoes: juttis for dancing, clear heels for photos.
Plum or violet? A quick guide
| If you… | Choose | |---|---| | Love classic, graceful looks | Plum | | Want a flowy, twirly silhouette | Violet | | Have a puja or formal family event | Plum | | Have a party, garba or mehendi | Violet | | Prefer a straight, structured fit | Plum | | Want an easy, forgiving flare | Violet |
Festive does not have to mean heavy
Both suits are 100% cotton. That means you stay comfortable from the morning puja to late-night celebrations – and you can wash and wear them again for Navratri, Eid, Holi and weddings all year round. In a heated home in Toronto or London, cotton is far more comfortable than heavy synthetic festive wear.

- Or send us your measurements and we will stitch the suit to fit you at no extra cost.
- We send you photos of your piece being made in Jaipur before it ships.
Frequently asked questions
When should I order for Diwali delivery abroad? Order at least 2–3 weeks before Diwali. Custom-fit pieces take 5–7 working days to make, plus 5–10 business days for express delivery.
Will the purple colour fade? Wash separately in cold water the first few times and dry in shade – the colour will stay rich for many seasons.
Can I wear these suits after Diwali? Absolutely. Plum is lovely for winter weddings and office events; violet is perfect for Navratri, mehendi and summer functions.
